2012 Award Recipients

We had many more art submissions this year than in previous years, therefore many more students earned awards. Our gallery space, however, has not grown, so we will have enough space to display only the Gold Key winning entries. Gold Key winning entries are automatically entered into the national awards competition.

Gold Key selected art will be exhibited at the Benton County Museum from February 10, 2012, to March 31, 2012.

Attention Gold Key artists: Please drop off your winning entries on either Sunday, Feb. 5, 11am - 1pm or Monday, Feb. 6, 10am - 4:00pm. At the end of the show, please pick up your artwork on Monday, April 2, 2012 between 10am and 4pm.

The award ceremony will be February 18th at 2:00pm. We can seat 100 guests with standing room in the back. The Honorable Mention and Silver Key certificates will be either given or mailed to each art teacher. The teachers can then distribute the Honorable Mention and Silver certificates at school.

Students from 21 Oregon schools earned awards! The jurors were professional artists and retired art teachers, so even receiving an Honorable Mention is truly an honor that all students should be proud of!

Please put the annual Willamette Valley Scholastic Art Awards on your calendars! Student and teacher registration opens September 15, 2011.

The deadline for online digital submissions is January 15, 2012. After completing registration and upload, the student must print the submission form and obtain required signatures from a teacher and parent. Please note that parent signatures are not required if the student is 18 years or older. Registration is not complete until the submission form has been signed and payment has been received by Benton County Museum.

Dates for your calendar:

• Sun. Jan. 15, 2012, 11:59pm EST: Deadline for digital submissions
• Feb. 1, 2012: Selected entries announced online
• Feb. 5 & 6, 2012: Art drop off at museum in Philomath, OR
