Border fabric & binding
Pieced block, Mill Wheel design(51 ½"/52" x 63/63 ¾") in tan, brown, blue, and pink. Quilt top is cotton. Fabric pattern is floral chintz, possibly from panels. Structure consists of alternating blocks carrying alternating colors to create design. Blocks measure @ 5 ½" x 5 ½". Block shape is square; number of blocks is 63 with a 7 x 9 set. Block orientation is straight and tangent (blocks next to each other with no sashing). Special dye techniques include chintz fabric. Quilt has one border on four sides. Borders are the same on all sides and measure @ 6"-6 ½".
Quilt back is multi-pieced, possibly linen.
Hand quilted, @ 8 stitches per inch, medium to heavy quantity and medium fineness. Quilting patterns include cross-hatch, hanging diamond (file describes as "checkered quilting").
Quilt edges are straight, corners square. Self-bound binding with backing brought to front.
Moderate to extensive damage: fabric deterioration, stains, and holes. Crease down the center.
Research needed on chintz fabric and size of quilt (museum notes that it is for a "trundle bed").
