Benton County Museum was pleased to host a travelling exhibition from The National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky, during Quilt County 2013.
The National Quilt Museum challenged quiltmakers to create original quilts based on the classic Baskets block pattern. The 18 winning quilts of the 2012 Basket-themed New Quilts from an Old Favorite annual contest were shown at Benton County Museum from
August 2 to September 28, 2013. These innovative quilts represent quilters from 15 U.S. states.
Finalists' quilts featured in the exhibit included:
Book Plate I by Karen Grover of Rockford, Illinois, took top honors, winning first place. Designed in the manner of a bookplate, this quilt abounds in the sensuous curves of
the Art Nouveau period.

The third place winner, Basket Weaver by Michael Michalski of Brooklyn, New York, was constructed of woven cloth bands, resulting in an openwork lattice.
