EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES

The Benton County Historical Museum offers support materials and onsite programming for educators and families in our area.

ONLINE

Our Discover What's Inside program offers virtual education about objects in the collection. Most of the Discover What's Inside videos are geared towards children ages 6-12, with many including hands-on activity suggestions for children to continue learning and discovery at home. Discover What's Inside videos aren't just for children – adults enjoy them too!

HISTORY TRUNKS

We also have History Trunks available for hands-on learning. Teachers can check out a history trunk to explore in their classroom.

Philomath Elementary School field trip to Corvallis Museum

SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS

School groups planning field trips to the Corvallis Museum can schedule the What is an Artifact? school tour program. Students become artifact detectives, practicing what questions to ask with hands-on objects, then explore the galleries to analyze artifacts on their own. The program lasts one hour, and is intended for grades 3 - 6, and includes pre- and post-visit materials.

School groups of all ages are also welcome to schedule self-guided visits to both our Philomath and Corvallis museums.

Admission is free for students, teachers, and 1 chaperone for every 5 students. Additional adults are $5 per person at the Corvallis Museum, and free at the Philomath Museum. We require a ratio of 1 chaperone for every 5 students grades 5 and under, and 1 chaperone for every 10 students grades 6-8.

To schedule a field trip, please contact Curator of Education Patti Larkin, [email protected]. Guided tours should be booked at least two weeks in advance of your visit, and are not confirmed until you hear from us and have received a confirmation email.
