To fulfill our mission as an educational institution, the Benton County Historical Museum develops support materials for educators in our region. Our newest program launched during the summer 2020 is Discover What's Inside, which offers virtual education of objects in the collection. Most of the Discover What's Inside videos are geared towards children ages 6-12 with many offering hands-on activity suggestions for children to continue learning and discovery at home. Discover What's Inside videos aren't just for children, some adults enjoy them too!
We also have History Trunks that are available for hands-on learning and helping to bring history to life. During 2020, this program has been transitioning from museum docents bringing history trunks into classrooms for presentations to the trunks being available on-site at the Corvallis Museum as part of our School Tours program. Teachers may also check out a history trunk to explore in their classroom. During this transition we are also working on making the history trunk presentations available virtually.

We have ten history trunks exploring ten different themes. The Oregon Trail, Early Settlers, and Kalapuya trunks are particularly popular. If you'd like to delve into any of these fascinating trunks with your students, please inquire when you schedule your group tour.
